Active Shooter Training

The Monroe County Sheriff's Department is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of our citizens. We are committed to providing our community with the necessary resources to prevent crime and protect against becoming victims. Our department is proud to have four certified trainers in the 4E Tier One Program, offering training sessions to local schools, daycares, churches, and other businesses throughout Monroe County. Educate, Evade, Escape, and Engage


Our 4E© four-hour program includes a comprehensive 90-minute presentation that delves into the history of Active Shooter incidents and the utilization of effective tactics. Participants are educated on the 4E© core principles: Educate, Evade, Escape, and Engage. After the presentation, participants engage in practical application and scenario-based training to better prepare them for real-life situations. We believe that dynamic and realistic training scenarios are essential for adequately preparing individuals for Active Shooter incidents.
Our experienced staff provides participants with practical and applicable scenarios based on actual incidents, aiming to build confidence and improve survival skills. Additionally, participants can take part in a tabletop exercise, led by our instructional staff, based on your organization’s critical incident plans and procedures. This exercise encourages staff to consider post-event operations continuity, going beyond the initial incident. Our comprehensive training program aims to empower participants, enabling them to take control in life-threatening crises.

The #1 Question we receive from our educators: “How do we teach the 4E© Program to our children?” Answer? Our 4E© Presentation just for kids! With input from educators, including those who specialize in early child education, our program provides all of the life-saving skills taught at the adult level but in a fun, non – threatening environment.

FAITH – ORIENTED 4E© INTRUDER DEFENSE

Faith-Oriented: program integrates human behavior characteristic recognition and detection techniques to empower staff and volunteers to combat Active Killer Incidents in faith-based organizations. Sadly, even our houses of worship are no longer free from the violence of Active Killers. According to statistics, from 1999 to the second quarter of 2015 there have been 1,018 Deadly Force Incidents (DFI) in faith based organizations in the United States. Incorporating the core principles of the 4E©, this program integrates human behavior characteristic recognition along with detection techniques that empower your staff and volunteers to combat Active Killer Incidents.
